•The techniques need to be simple enough to work when you are scared, and your heart rate is almost 200 bpm. That means it needs to incorporate gross motor skills movements.

•It makes you feel a little uncomfortable. The training should push you outside of your comfort zone enough that you feel challenged, but not so much that you feel completely overwhelmed.

•Safety is always a consideration. If safety concerns seem to take a backseat to the action, nope out of there right away.

•The devil is in the details. They need to take the time to explain the process if showing you something. Why do they do what they do? It matters.
